Only a minimal stab wound is made in the jejunal wall, with a size similar to the diameter of the main pancreatic duct. A stent-tube is inserted in the main pancreatic duct at one side; the other side of the tube is pulled through the jejunum via the new-made opening, and extra-abdominally through a second-formed opening on the other side of the jejunum.

One-layered end-to-side pancreatojejunostomy with only a minimal stab wound

  1. Only a minimal stab wound is made in the jejunal wall, with a size similar to the diameter of the main pancreatic duct.
  2. A stent-tube is inserted in the main pancreatic duct at one side; the other side of the tube is pulled through the jejunum via the new-made opening, and extra-abdominally through a second-formed opening on the other side of the jejunum.
  3. The pancreatic remnant is circumferentially anastomosed to the seromuscular layer of the jejunum with a single suture-row.
  4. No direct duct-to-jejunal-mucosa anastomosis needs to be performed.
